AVIMETAL, a leader in metal additive manufacturing, has strengthened its global strategy with the appointment of Dr. Tobias Abeln as Technical Advisor. Announced on August 7, 2025, in Xuzhou, China, this milestone brings the expertise of the former Chief Technology Officer of EOS GmbH — a globally recognized authority in additive manufacturing and equipment engineering — to accelerate innovation in metal 3D printing equipment and drive the company toward international leadership.

The signing ceremony was held at AVIMETAL’s Xuzhou Air Harbor base, attended by senior executives including Gao Zhengjiang, General Manager of AVIMETAL; Li Fachang, General Manager of the Equipment Division; Teng Yun, HR Director; and Gao Ge, Marketing Director.
His involvement will help AVIMETAL build a more professional and scientific R&D system, accelerating the entry of domestic metal 3D printing equipment into international high-end application markets.

With over 20 years of experience in laser technology R&D and high-end equipment engineering, Dr. Abeln is recognized as an authority in the global additive manufacturing field.
During his nearly nine-year tenure as CTO at EOS, he led the development and innovation of multiple advanced metal 3D printing systems. Currently, he also serves as CTO at WALDRICH COBURG, a world leader in heavy-duty CNC gantry milling machines and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beijing No.1 Machine Tool Plant under Jingcheng Electromechanical. Often referred to as “the crown jewel of heavy machine tools”, WALDRICH COBURG has a global reputation for precision engineering—expertise that aligns perfectly with AVIMETAL’s pursuit of high-end, industrialized equipment development.

Hands-On Technical Engagement from Day One
Since joining, Dr. Abeln has led multiple technical workshops with the equipment R&D team. He has also visited AVIMETAL’s production lines to review the progress of full-series metal 3D printing equipment.
In addition, he toured the company’s metal powder production facility, gaining a full understanding of AVIMETAL’s “materials + equipment” collaborative innovation model, which integrates powder manufacturing with equipment development to create a complete additive manufacturing ecosystem.
