Wang Chengyong, Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor, currently serving as the Vice President of Guangdong University of Technology, Director of the State Key Laboratory for High Performance Tools (Guangdong University of Technology), and Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Minimally Invasive Surgical Instrument Design and Manufacturing Technology (MisIMT). He is also the Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society, Vice Chairman of the China Association of Mechanical Manufacturing Technology, Executive Director of the Production Engineering Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Chairman of the 4th Laser Materials Processing and Laser Equipment Sub-Technical Committee of the National Technical Committee for Laser Radiation Safety and Laser Equipment Standardization (SAC/TC284/SC1), Committee Member of the National Tool Standardization Technical Committee (TC91), Committee Member of the Medical Software Professional Group of the Medical Device Classification Technical Committee of the National Medical Products Administration, and Chairman of the 2nd and 3rd Guangdong Province Stone Industry Standardization Technical Committee. He is a recipient of the inaugural "Ministry of Education Outstanding Teaching in Ideology and Politics" award, Leader of Teaching Teams and Demonstration Projects, and Head of the First Batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses. He is also a member of the Mechanical Engineering Curriculum Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and the Director of the Mechanical Engineering Curriculum Teaching Steering Committee for Undergraduate Universities in Guangdong Province. Wang has received the Guangdong Provincial Teaching Master Award and serves as an editorial board member for journals such as Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, Journal of Mechanical Engineering, and China Mechanical Engineering. Professor Wang has long been engaged in research on high-end CNC equipment and processing technology, as well as high-end medical devices. He has led 13 National Natural Science Foundation projects (including 3 key projects and 1 exploratory research project), published over 20 high-level papers in the last five years, and holds more than 150 authorized national invention patents. Several of his research achievements have been successfully commercialized. As the first contributor, his work has received the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (2019), the First Prize of the China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award (2018), the Silver Award of the 9th Good Design Award (2024), the First Prize of the Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progress Award (2020, 2014), and the Second Prize of the Guangdong Province Natural Science Award (2009). In 2021, he was awarded the Ding Ying Science and Technology Award of Guangdong Province. He enjoys special government allowances from the State Council and was awarded the Guangdong Provincial May 1st Labor Medal in 2024. He is also a recipient of the Guangdong Provincial Special Support Program for Distinguished Talents.
