Scalmalloy® is a high-performance aluminum alloy powder material specifically engineered for additive manufacturing, composed of meticulously selected elements such as aluminum, magnesium, and scandium. It features a bimodal microstructure characterized by fine equiaxed grains interspersed with coarser columnar grains. The addition of scandium at the hypereutectic point (eutectic content of 0.4-0.55 wt%) and magnesium refines the grain structure and enhances strength.
