【Bio】

Cao Xiaodong, Ph.D., is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the National Engineering Research Center for Tissue Restoration and Reconstruction, South China University of Technology. He has been recognized as a "New Century Excellent Talent" by the Ministry of Education, and serves as a Council Member of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials (CSBM), Chairman of the Advanced Manufacturing Division of CSBM, and Vice Chairman of the Biomaterials Division of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering (CSBE). He is also an expert reviewer for innovative medical devices at the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and has been listed among Stanford University’s "World’s Top 2% Scientists" (Career-Long Impact).

Dr. Cao received his Ph.D. from the School of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences at Wuhan University in 2005. From 2005 to 2010, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and North Carolina State University (USA). His current research primarily focuses on biomedical 3D printing and its applications, the construction of regenerative materials for functional bone, cartilage, intervertebral discs, skin, and nerve tissues, and the underlying molecular mechanisms of biocompatibility.

He has published over 170 papers in prestigious international journals such as Adv. Funct. Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., and Bioact. Mater., with over 13,000 citations on Google Scholar and an H-index of 57. He has filed over 50 Chinese invention patents, with 28 authorized and 4 commercialized. His work has contributed to the approval of one Class III and three Class II NMPA registration certificates and the co-authorship of 5 books. Dr. Cao has led over 20 major research initiatives, including projects under the National Key R&D Programs of the 13th and 14th Five-Year Plans, General Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Key Realm R&D Program of Guangdong Province.
