【Bio】

Zhang Sheng, Ph.D., is a professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing. He has long been engaged in the fundamental theory, process equipment and application research of laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) technology. Through the study of the formation mechanism and suppression measures of defects such as pores and cracks during the L-PBF process, he has theoretically revealed the formation laws of microstructure and properties of high-temperature non-equilibrium metal materials, and developed near-zero defect forming processes for aluminum alloys, titanium alloys and high-temperature alloys, which have greatly promoted the application of L-PBF technology in the aviation and aerospace fields. He has successively undertaken more than 10 projects including national key special projects, equipment development pre-research funds, and rapid support, and has undertaken more than 30 defense-related horizontal research projects. He has published 42 related academic papers, obtained 12 authorized patents, co-authored 1 academic monograph and 1 translation, and won 3 provincial and ministerial-level invention awards (the First Prize of Technological Invention of Shanxi Province, the First Prize of Technological Invention of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and the First Prize of China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement).
